WordPress is one of the most popular content management and blog publishing applications available on the web today.

First released in 2003 by developer Matt Mullenweg as a basic blog engine, WordPress is now a full-featured, fully customizable website creation tool used by millions of individuals, businesses and organizations around the world.

Because it is “open source”— WordPress soon became a hub where website developers were able to share their ideas and share codes and plugins in order to make this the most powerful blogging and website building platform ever.

All over the web today, WordPress powers extremely elaborate creative and corporate websites, simple blogs, and everything in between. Whether you are a blogger, in need of a website for your business, gaming portal or a Fortune 500 company, this content management platform proved to be a the ideal choice. Because of it’s workflow, search-engine friendly link structures, advanced content categorization, and more.

Powered by a scripting language called PHP and a database management tool called MySQL,

WordPress’ allows us to manipulate and customize functionality and content. This means that once you have a website built by us you can easily update, amend without having to know or edit PHP or HTML code.

Cosmetic, function, and structural elements like “widgets” can be changed and easily customized without affecting the actual content on the site, which sits in a separate database.

One of the greatest confirmations of this powerful technology is the growing development community that surrounds it. Web developers all over the world constantly communicate about WordPress and discuss ways to make it better. They create custom plug-ins and themes that make WordPress even more robust.

For businesses, WordPress is an extremely versatile technology that helps achieve goals, engage in social media, perform well in search engines, and manage content, minimizing costs after a website has been built.

We got an enteresting question from a client, he asked me how we create a logo? How do we get the ideas to make the logo personal.

This is a very intesting question because a logo is a statement, an expression of YOU, your project or business. Also creating your logo is very personal and can be a challenging experience. One often tends to find inspiration in their environment.

When creating a logo we ask ourselves the following questions:

- What keywords are associated to the logo?

Those words could be: happy, moving, strong, dependent, glossy, fluffy, urban, etc.

- What colors would be associated to those words?

Colors could be: bright red, glossy black, metallic silver, bright orange

- What shapes do you associate with your name or keywords?

Shapes could be: curves, strong lines, symbols, crosses, rectangles

In our opinion, the art of creating a logo is in how to combine the feedback from above questions, add a litte photoshop magic and you’re good to go!

I often get the question about what social media covers, and i found this description/ article on the Web trends website. I hope it gives you a better insight

Social media is a phrase being tossed around a lot these days, but it can sometimes be difficult to answer the question of what is social media.

If MySpace is a social media site, and Mag.nolia is a social media site, and Wikipedia is a social media site, then just what is social media?

Is it social networking?

Is it social bookmarking?

Is it wiki?

What is Social Media?

The best way to define social media is to break it down. Media is an instrument on communication, like a newspaper or a radio, so social media would be a social instrument of communication.

In Web 2.0 terms, this would be a website that doesn’t just give you information, but interacts with you while giving you that information. This interaction can be as simple as asking for your comments or letting you vote on an article, or it can be as complex as Flixster recommending movies to you based on the ratings of other people with similar interests.

Think of regular media as a one-way street where you can read a newspaper or listen to a report on television, but you have very limited ability to give your thoughts on the matter.

Social media, on the other hand, is a two-way street that gives you the ability to communicate too.

Is Social Media and Social News The Same Thing?

It is easy to confuse social media with social news because we often refer to members of the news as “the media.” Adding to the confusion is the fact that a social news site is also a social media site because it falls into that broader category.

But social news is not the same thing as social media anymore than a banana is the same thing as fruit. A banana is a type of fruit, but fruit can also be grapes, strawberries, or lemons. And while social news is social media, social networking and wikis are also social media.

What Are Some Social Media Websites?

Now that we have answered the question of what is social media, we can move on to social media websites. Because social media is such a broad term, it covers a large range of websites. But the one common link between these websites is that you are able to interact with the website and interact with other visitors.

Here are some examples of social media websites:

Social Bookmarking. (Del.icio.us, Blinklist, Simpy) Interact by tagging websites and searching through websites bookmarked by other people.

Social News. (Digg, Propeller, Reddit) Interact by voting for articles and commenting on them.

Social Networking. (Facebook, Hi5, Last.FM) Interact by adding friends, commenting on profiles, joining groups and having discussions.

Social Photo and Video Sharing. (YouTube, Flickr) Interact by sharing photos or videos and commenting on user submissions.

Wikis. (Wikipedia, Wikia) Interact by adding articles and editing existing articles.
